News ItemsOur Community…A Way Forward UpdateJanuary 24, 2008 ‘Residents Point Way Forward for Communities’ Over the past few months the 'Our Community...A Way Forward' project has been running in Grantown-on-Spey, Cromdale, Advie and Dulnain Bridge. Residents have been asked about the best things happening in their community and for their ideas for future improvements. Local people who 'make things happen' in their community by organising events, fundraising, running clubs and societies etc. are behind the many successes this area has to celebrate. The Craig MacLean Centre and Anagach Woods have clearly been amongst the most important developments in recent years. However a whole host of things from the festive lights to village halls, new play parks and village improvements were mentioned by a wide range of people who took part. Reports of the consultation events can be downloaded here. Four community meetings were held in January to give people a chance to prioritise the ideas that came forward and to start to draw up an Action Plan to present to local agencies for funding. Whether or not to focus efforts to develop a multi-purpose community centre for Grantown on the YMCA, or elsewhere, was just one of the topics discussed in detail at the event in Grantown. Look out for copies of a summary of the full project report on this website soon. Comments ReceivedI'm looking into spending Christmas in Grantown on Spey (if possible of course!) on the strength of the tv ad. Great ad and my family were very taken by it. C.O, (perth) - December 2007 |
