Grantown Parent Council

The Grantown Parent Council will replace the school boartd from this summer. Names are to be put forward by 18th May by contacting to school secretary. The first meeting of the new group will be 21st August. The aims and objectives of the new Parent Council are as follows :

The aims of the Parent Council are:

Supporting the school in all its work with pupils

Promoting communication between the school, parents, pupils, providers of nursery education and the community

Representing the views of and reporting to the Parent Forum, which is made up of all parents, carers and/or guardians of pupils at the school.

  The objectives of the Parent Council are:

To work in partnership with the school to maintain a welcoming school which is inclusive for all parents

To promote partnership between the school, it’s pupils and all its parents, and the wider community

To develop and engage in activities which support the education and welfare of the pupils.

To identify and represent the views of parents on the education provided by the school and other matters affecting the education and welfare of the pupils

To encourage and support the school’s fundraising group (the PTA) and any other groups involved with the education and welfare of the pupils.

Active Schools - ‘more children, more active more often’

THE VISION

To encourage all children to become more physically active by participating in safe enjoyable physical activities and to promote healthy lifestyles throughout their life.

Aims

·      To get 80% of children in the primary schools cluster to be physically active for one hour a day, making ‘more children more active, more often.

·      To develop sustainable pathways and opportunities for children to develop their interests and potential.

·      To develop fully inclusive programmes so that every child in every school has access to physical activity and sporting opportunity. 

Thus an ‘Active School’ will send out a strong message on physical activity and sport to wide audience.
